I was working abroad in Bogota and invited my dad to come visit for a long weekend. We stayed at the HAB Hotel, https://habhotel.co/. I cannot recommend this little gem enough!! The location was in a central quiet little neighborhood with several amazing restaurants nearby. For five nights I paid a total of $278.92 for a double room. It only costs on average $65 a night.
Day 1
We woke up and grabbed breakfast at Mistral, walking distance from our hotel. (https://maps.app.goo.gl/MmaTmquFbfP4Rxno9) Afterward, we headed to Plaza de Bolívar to do some sightseeing and shopping.
I highly recommend visiting the following 3 locations while there:
Museo Botero – Prominent museum in a colonial mansion featuring works by Fernando Botero & other global artists.
Museo Santa Clara – Built in the 17th century, this former church is now a museum, its walls covered in paintings.
Teatro Colón Bogotá – Neoclassical national theater building inaugurated in 1892 & hosting regular major performances.
For dinner, we made dinner reservations at Harry Sasson, Arguably Colombia’s most famous chef-restaurateur, Harry Sasson heads up a mini-empire of venues across Bogotá, including a bar, bakery, and steakhouse. His eponymous flagship restaurant remains the jewel in the crown. The menu blends Latin American, Asian, and European elements.
Housed in a mock Tudor mansion with a stunning bar clad in glass and girders the restaurant is a magnet for Colombia’s rich and famous. But it also manages to retain an inclusive feel thanks to warm service and simple, delicious food. It also boasts one of the country’s most wide-ranging wine lists.
Day 2
We headed out to The Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá. This is an underground Roman Catholic church built within the tunnels of a salt mine 200 meters underground in a halite mountain near the city of Zipaquirá, in Cundinamarca, Colombia. The ticket includes a tour, a train ride, as well as a city tour. This is an all-day event that is fun for the entire family!
For dinner, we ate at the La Fragata Giratoria on top of the World Trade Center. The restaurant spins with unparalleled views of Bogota. I highly recommend the lobster. It is dinner and show all at an affordable price!
Day 3
This was our favorite day! We decided to book a morning dirt bike class with Xspeed Racing School https://xspeedracingschool.com/. They provided everything we needed from gear to instruction. We worked our way up to each new level track and had such a fun time. We learned a lot and were safe doing it.
